Sunday 02 May 2010 Controversial PK Spoils Home Opener for Rochester Rhinos/Carolina battle to 1-1 draw
Troy Roberts put away a rebound in front of net in the 9' minute Saturday night to put Rochester up early 1-0, however Frankie Sanfilippo's take down in the 2nd half proved to be a costly as Carolina was awarded the PK and the equalizer was delivered. The rain held off as the fans enjoyed a new atmosphere, new concessions and finally the look of a completed stadium. Check out Devos article here.
Monday 04 January 2010 Bill Sedgewick Joins Rhinos Staff Ex-Rhino returns to sidelines as Assistant Coach
Former Rochester Rhinos defender/midfielder Bill Sedgewick will join the club in a coaching capacity for the 2010 season. He has been named Assistant Coach alongside Head Coach Bob Lilley. As a fan favorite for 7 years as a Rhino, Sedge will also assist with community involvement activities. Check out Devos write-up here.
Monday 30 November 2009 Rhinos Depart USL Rochester to play in newly created NASL for 2010
The Rochester Rhinos and owner Rob Clark announced Monday that the club will depart from the United Soccer Leagues first division and play in the newly formed, but yet to be sanctioned North American Soccer League in 2010. The league is currently searching for a commisioner and will launch a marketing campaign in the coming months as the league develops. OFFICIAL: Rochester joins proposed NASL
Wednesday 18 November 2009 Rhinos Release John Ball Veteran midfielder not returning to club in 2010
The Rochester Rhinos announced this morning that the gritty 37 year-old midfielder would not return to team for the 2010 season. Head Coach Bob Lilley had this to say regarding his release:
“John has been a very good player in this league and for the Rhinos. It was a very difficult decision. I certainly have a lot of respect for what John has brought to the game for many years. His ability to play with his heart is a great achievement,” said Lilley, who informed Ball of the team’s plan. ”Obviously, when you’re changing the dynamic of the team there will be many difficult decisions. Certainly, this is one of the toughest the club will make moving forward.”

Tuesday 17 November 2009 Back to the Future: New Era Underway in Rochester for 2010 Bob Lilley takes reigns as new skipper
The Rochester Rhinos will begin the 2010 campaign with Bob Lilley taking over the head coaching duties replacing Darren Tilley. This will be only the 4th head coach in franchise history. The combination of former Rhinos head coach Pat Ercoli serving as GM along with Lilley should provide for some veteran stability and leadership in those key positions. Welcome aboard Bob!
